Barcelona ‘on the right track’ to resolve financial issues, says La Liga president

Barcelona’s financial predicament is an open secret by now, with the Catalans’ economic struggles causing significant challenges in maintaining and bolstering their squad.

However, Joan Laporta and the club’s leadership are taking steps to ensure Barcelona’s financial stability is reinstated.

The biggest proof of Barça’s imminent return to financial equilibrium is the repeated optimism conveyed by La Liga president Javier Tebas.

In contrast to his previously bleak outlook on Barcelona’s finances, he now views the club’s situation as considerably more salvageable.

Tebas claims Barcelona on the right track

When asked if Barcelona will return to the 1:1 rule, which will allow the Catalans to spend every euro they earn, Tebas responded via MARCA:

“If they do the things they should do, it’s possible. It depends on their board and I think they can do it.”

“Barcelona are on the right track,” he optimistically added.

When asked if Barcelona is keeping the league updated with the measures they are taking, Tebas argued that they are in touch with the club’s economic department and feel confident about their financial revival.

“We are becoming aware, the economic control department with the Barcelona specialists, as with all clubs, there is weekly, almost daily contact.

“And they tell how they are doing. I have the feeling that they are on the right track, what is happening things have to be completed. But they are on the right track, yes,” Tbeas claimed.

On Lewandowski’s salary concerns

One of the major talking points in recent weeks has been the forecasted rise of Robert Lewandowski’s salary, which is likely to take a toll on the club’s coffers.

On that subject, Tebas was asked if salaries like Lewandowski’s that grow season by season be one of the problems for Barcelona

“We see it globally. They can go up, but other players will have been removed, as has happened in Barcelona. These increases by Lewandowski compensate them. We see the issue globally, not specifically about one player.

“Overall, Barcelona maintains a salary mass adequate to what Barcelona has to be, they need to compensate for the operation with the company that did not go very well. I believe that if they adapt that operation and any operation they do, they will be at 1:1,” he mentioned.
