Hansi Flick to set important boundaries with Barcelona dressing room

Barcelona will look to enter a new era under the leadership of the newly-appointed Hansi Flick.

The German is seen as an outsider by many due to his lack of exposure to Barcelona’s cultures and traditions. However, after Xavi Hernandez’s mixed spell at the club, Flick promises to bring forth many cultural changes, mainly inside the Barcelona dressing room.

Flick to set important boundaries

According to Catalunya Radio, Hansi Flick is coming in with a clear vision for the team, and that includes setting some important boundaries around the locker room.

The report suggests Flick views the locker room as a “sacred place” meant for the coach, staff, and players only.

This is a shift from the previous regime under Xavi Hernandez, who was sometimes criticized for having a more relaxed approach to locker room access

Flick is looking to tighten things up. He wants the locker room to be a private space for the team to focus and strategize. While President Joan Laporta would still be allowed entry after matches, it seems like unrestricted access for others will be a thing of the past.

Apart from Laporta, it appears only sporting director Deco will be allowed entry to the Barcelona locker room. This is hardly surprising as Xavi’s exit has seen the Brazilian enjoy a lot more power, especially in regards to dictating the club’s transfer policy.

Flick, for his part, is working closely with Deco to build the roadmap for the club’s future and more immediately, the plans for the season ahead.

Nevertheless, these recent sets of guidelines serve as a clear signal that Flick intends to create a more professional and focused environment within the team.
