Barcelona rival star praises Raphinha following defeat vs him: “He’s better than me”

Following a stellar 4-2 win over Barcelona, it is needless to say that Girona are not here to muck around and are certainly good enough to lift the league title come the end of the season.

One of the players who has been driving their unforgettable season is Savinho. The Brazilian has been one of the finds of the season, having emerged as one of Girona’s main men upfront.

Savinho, though, sports great humility, at least according to Girona coach Michel.

Michel reveals a conversation with Savinho

Speaking to the media after the Barcelona win, Girona coach Michel has revealed a small conversation he witnessed in the morning with Savinho.

A member of the Girona staff had apparently asked the striker (h/t Diario SPORT), “Who is better, Raphinha or you?

In response, Savinho said, “Raphinha is a better player than me, he is in Barça and in the national team.”

Albeit in a sarcastic tone, Michel praised Savinho’s humility. And of course, after the game, it was established that the Girona starlet was indeed the better performer of the two, at least momentarily.

Savinho’s stupendous season so far

Since the start of the season, Savinho has racked up five goals and five assists for Girona in all competitions. His contributions have been key in helping Girona emerge as one of the frontrunners for the league title.

Savinho’s performances have not gone unnoticed either, with Barcelona themselves reportedly interested in acquiring the services of the teenage whizkid.

The Girona starlet, though, does have four key proposals on his tables and is not expected to find any shortage of suitors in the coming summer.

Not to mention, the Brazilian could prove to be highly expansive for Barça, who are not in a position to spend a lot of capital in the market.
