2025 Volkswagen Jetta S costs $23,295—$165 less than last year

  • VW’s latest base Jetta S sedan costs about $200 less this year, for automatic versions
  • The former 6-speed manual in the non-GLI Jetta is history
  • New front and rear ends match with a newly standard 8.0-inch touchscreen

The 2025 VW Jetta arrives in the fall sporting a lower base price of $23,295, including $1,300 in destination charges, Volkswagen announced Tuesday.

The sedan’s price has been cut by $165 versus a similarly equipped 2024 model, which earned a TCC Rating of 5.7 out of 10.

The former manual-transmission option has been deleted. The base 2024 Jetta S with the 6-speed manual cost $22,660, or $800 less than the base model with the automatic.

VW says continued interest in lower-cost new cars has fueled Jetta sales in its lineup. The sedan remains a strong value, with standard equipment that includes 16-inch wheels, newly standard dual-zone climate control, power features, LED headlights, and a standard safety suite that includes automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, active lane control, and blind-spot monitors.

Prices for the Jetta Sport were not announced, but that model gains a revamped front end with a light bar embedded in its grille, as well as a new textile interior that will be offered in the usual gray or black as well as in two-tone combinations. Carryover features range from 17-inch wheels to heated front seats.

Jetta SE models gain the new interior upholstery, the touchscreen with Sirius satellite ratio hardware, and 15-watt wireless smartphone charging. The Jetta SEL adopts 18-inch wheels and the light-bar grille; it’s the only Jetta to offer standard leather upholstery.

A mild front and rear-end refresh accompanies the Jetta into the new model year, but the powertrains remain the same. A 158-hp 1.5-liter turbo-4 powers the front wheels on all models through an 8-speed automatic.

The Jetta GLI taps a 228-hp, 2.0-liter turbo-4 with a choice between that 6-speed manual or a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic. GLI sedans now come with the wireless smartphone charger, upgraded voice-command recognition, and touch-sensitive steering-wheel controls.

Prices for the other Jetta models will be announced later this year.
